2022 #AACHomecoming Highlights
We were excited to welcome you back, gather together, reflect on AAC’s journey and look ahead to the amazing things that are coming. It’s a homecoming celebration!
Our 2022 Homecoming festivities contained three unique opportunities to join in on the fun: virtual affinity spaces throughout the entire month of October, a fresh take on our 2022 Convening, and The Turn Up – a party celebrating the BIPOC/Global Majority arts community.
These activities were designed to support and uplift BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) and/or Global Majority-identifying artists and arts leaders.
October - Virtual Affinity Spaces
We began our #AACHomecoming by sharing space in our virtual affinity spaces for arts leaders.
These activities have been designed to support and uplift BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) and/or Global Majority-identifying artists and arts leaders.
November 5th - 2022 Convening
Returning as a one-day event to Eaton DC, the 2022 Convening centered joy and celebration as we reflected on the years since AAC’s creation while looking ahead to our bright future.
The 2022 Convening allowed us to share space, build community, break bread together, and hear from leaders in our field – including AAC’s new Executive Director, our Co-Founder and Former Director Quanice G. Floyd, and others.
November 5th - The Turn Up
What better way to conclude #AACHomecoming than with a party?
We turned up on Saturday, November 5th on the 2nd floor of Eaton for an evening of music by DJ One Luv, food, cash bar, vendors, and specially curated space featuring local artists and creatives.
Live painting by Edwin Calderon, plus art and vendor tables by Eight 2 Eight Inc, BLingual, and Chocolate City Rocks. Special performance at 7:30-8pm by Tariq O’Meally and Malik Burnett, curated by Sheldon Scott, Global Head of Purpose at Eaton Workshop.
Part of the our month-long #AACHomecoming celebration, this party was for any and all who want to celebrate the contributions of BIPOC/PGM artists and creatives!
